Beer Guide

Beer families, in one sitting

Lager, ale, wheat, and stout describe method and grain more reliably than they describe flavour.

Lager and ale are yeast and temperature families. Most of the pale beer sold in the world is lager. Ale is not automatically more flavourful, and lager is not automatically bland. Stout is a colour and roast family that can be either low or high in alcohol.

The only beer in this demo is Budweiser lager, and the page is specific about which Budweiser. The American Anheuser-Busch beer and the Czech beer Budějovický Budvar share a name in some markets and are not the same product. A directory that merges them is wrong in a way that matters to both companies.

ABV on beer is usually printed and usually modest next to spirits. Five percent is a common figure for this lager and is stored as a demo value with a note to read the can. IBU and colour scales are omitted until someone records them from a label.

Beer is alcohol. A 'session' strength is still an alcoholic drink. This guide will not suggest beer is a hydration strategy or a health food.
